late. then awkward. ate food. she broke up with richard on friday and yet everything is still the same between them. how can this be? she doesn't elaborate on any of the things they need to work out. she brings these topics up and then when i show interest, she clams up. we go to walmart. zombie through there. and then she drops me off. she liked my xmas gift. she forgot mine. she says she'll call me tomorrow and drop it off. i bet she won't. maybe there is a point when people have changed too much; when you get impatient with who the person used to be and who they have or have not become. maybe i'm mistaken about thinking that things are going well and getting back to before, because i really want them to be. it's been a long time since i've truly had a best friend.
maybe there is a time to just say, "fuck it."
